Finland Tourist Visa

If you are planning to visit Finland as a tourist, then you must know the visa requirements for this northern European nation.

You will need a short-term visa to visit Finland which is valid for 90 days. This short-term visa is also known as the Schengen visa. As you may be aware the Schengen visa is valid in all the European countries which are part of the Schengen agreement. Finland is one of the countries under the Schengen agreement.

• A valid passport whose validity will exceed the duration of the visa you apply for by three months
• Issue date of the passport must be within the previous ten years
• A copy of your completed and signed application form
• Proof of hotel bookings, flight bookings, and a detailed plan of your activities during the duration of your stay in Finland
• Copy of tour ticket
• Proof of having enough finances to support your travel and stay in the country
• A recent statement from your bank
• Proof of having valid medical insurance with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros from an insurance company approved by the Schengen countries

Schengen Visa Fees

When applying for a Schengen visa there is a non-refundable mandatory visa fee every applicant must pay.

The Schengen visa costs vary depending on the type of visa and age of the applicant as well as some other exceptions stated below in the text. The Schengen visa fee can be paid in the designated consulate/embassy via cash, debit, or credit card. However, some consulates may not allow you to pay by credit card.

Despite of the fact that these fees are static and unchangeable until the Schengen members decide otherwise altogether, there are some categories exempt from paying this amount.

The visa fees may also be waived for participants aged 25 years or less in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events, organized by non-profit organizations. The decision will be made case by case according to the relevance of the event.

Again, in case the visa is denied there is no refund of the money paid.

VISA Extension Of Tourist Visa 

Generally, it is not possible to extend the tourist visa beyond 90 days. But under certain emergency circumstances such as sudden cancellation of flights, acute illness, or humanitarian reasons, the visa can be extended. Fees will be charged for the extension of the visa.
